Playing Split Patches with the SWAM Big Band 2.0!

Watch Peter play custom split patches and download a set of presets for the SWAM Big Band 2.0 template:

In this video Peter is playing the SWAM Big Band Template with two multipad settings. He starts out with four trumpets with harmon mutes as the bass is coming in on the low range. He then moves on to a modern 5-part voicing with the full band without mutes - again with the bass in the low range. Both Multipads are designed to adjust their voicing to the playing position of the chord: If you exceed a certain note limit, some instruments will be revoiced and transposed down an octave to keep a balanced, unstrained sound.

Routing the bass in the low range on all these presets allows him to play the horns in the right hand while the bass is played in the left hand. Dynamics and vibrato are controlled through his Breath & Bite controller by TEControl (Breath on CC11 for Dynamics, Bite on CC1 for Vibrato Depth).

Additional Bass-Split Performance

You can download these two multipads along with a bunch of additional dedicated split-patches with bass in the low range and different orchestrations in the voices. Load a bass instrument of your choice into the dedicated track of the SWAM Big Band 2.0. As you play these, pay attention to the limits of the low range, as depending on the instrument selection there are some differences where the bass starts. For the first multipad to sound make sure that you add another track with a vibraphone that receives on Divisimate Port 17. These presets allow you a different approach of playing the SWAM Big Band template that can be very fun to play and very nicely suited for live settings.

After you download this exported performance you can import it into Divisimate 2 through the performance manager - same as the other performances from the template. We hope you enjoy these additional presets!
